Do I need to whitelist links and phone numbers in SMS?

Updated 25 October 2026 · 1 min read

Quick answer

Yes. Operators block SMS that contain links, APK links or callback numbers that are not whitelisted on your DLT portal.

What to whitelist

  • Website links, such as https://yourbrand.in/offer
  • App download (APK) links
  • Callback phone numbers, such as your support or toll-free number

How

  1. Log in to your DLT portal.
  2. Find the CTA (call to action) / URL whitelisting section.
  3. Add your domain or full URLs and your numbers, and link them to your templates as the portal asks.

Tips

  • Use your own domain. Public link shorteners such as bit.ly are usually blocked.
  • Keep the domain fixed in the template. Only the part after the domain should change.
  • Check templates with the DLT template checker, which flags links and numbers to whitelist.
